After state testing, we had a grade level pizza pa After state testing, we had a grade level pizza party. We put all of our math knowledge to good use to figure out how many pizzas we needed.  They couldn’t believe how much math we had to do. Lol! #realworldmath

Never under estimate the power of doing something Never under estimate the power of doing something “scandalous.” Students love using dry erase markers on their desks to compete assignments. You can do it for any subject!  For this lesson I was having them list as many mammals as they could in one minute. Every single one of them was engaged.
“It’s not hard, it’s just a lot of work and “It’s not hard, it’s just a lot of work and we aren’t afraid of work!” This is our motto during state test prep. Now we are trying to find problems to practice that make us do the most work. Students were working on our Google forms test prep centers and asking me to take pics of all of their work for just one problem. They were so proud of themselves. Now it’s turned into a competition!

One of our favs is this Hidden Pictures Multiplication activity. Students complete the multiplication facts correctly and each correct answer forms a piece of the picture.

Happy Valentine’s Day, darlings! We made it! I Happy Valentine’s Day, darlings!  We made it!  It might only be Monday but just think, Friday is getting closer. LOL!  In all seriousness, I hope you enjoyed your day with your little love bugs. I hate wishing my weekdays away and living for the weekends. We have to try to find the joy in each day. Teaching is getting harder every year, but I have hope that we are raising world changers. Try to find the joy in your littles this week.

But are we also teaching about the amazing accomplishments of Black scientists, inventors, aviators, athletes?  Not many get to hear the stories of these phenomenal people. The kiddos just weren’t getting it until I gave them a real life example. This helped so much. (Oh and that is now the cleanest section of our floor 😉)
