Hello Darlings!
Meet the Teacher is one of the most exciting and chaotic nights of the year. It feels like speed dating! By the time you meet one student and their family, the next one is walking in the door. You find yourself dancing around the room, sweating, and hitting those 10,000 steps! Phew! Sounds familiar right?
To ensure that the night is a hit, I like to come in fully prepared.
Here are some must-have resources to make your Meet the Teacher night a BREEZE:
I always have a presentation on the screen as families walk in the door. This keeps us all on the same page and stops me from repeating myself. I love that it sets us all up for success in the very short time they spend in the room.
I like to use my Back to School Questionnaire (Google Form). The amount of paper that goes home is INSANE! As a parent, it is even more overwhelming. Now imagine that pile of papers with 2, 3, or even 4 children. Things are going to get lost, let’s just be honest! That is why I chose to create this resource digitally. Parents can complete it in 3-5 minutes on their phone! This form might be one of the most valuable tools as I get to know my students!
There are always parents that want to help (bless their hearts!!). Rather than be thrown on the spot, I like to have a wishlist prepared that parents can contribute to. This has helped our classroom year after year and saves me from making that extra trip to the store!
On each desk, I like to place a welcome letter (along with some little treats of course!!) to invite them to the classroom. This is a chance for me to share the key details: lunch time, daily schedule, specialist schedule, and a little about me! I try to keep it thorough yet short, knowing that parents have a lot of paper to sort through in the first few days!
I’ve saved the BEST for last!! This bundle has sign up sheets for parents, a scavenger hunt to help them find their way around the room/school, and SO much more!! The best part? It is all ready to go. Just print and set it out! I like to set up a hub for parents so that they know where to stop to tackle these tasks!
