Hello Darlings!
Kids LOVE their birthday! They spend the whole year counting down to the big day and then once it is over they spend the rest of the year asking how soon it will be until it comes again! It really is THE most important day of the entire year to them!
So how do we support this when they are at school?
The answer is simple…Birthday Bucket!
I love this because it is super easy for me to implement, it acknowledges every kid, it is something they look forward to, and it rarely is an issue for my kiddos with food allergies or restrictions! Plus, they rarely get a sucker like this anywhere else so it is a BIG deal.
Here’s how it works!
I use a galvanized tub, plant styrofoam, and large suckers. By placing the plant styrofoam in the bottom of the tub, I can easily stick the sucker sticks into it– allowing them to stand up in an arrangement
This is the styrofoam I love to use. It is super easy to use and affordable! I usually find it at a craft store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Amazon has everything too!
This is my favorite tub! You can find these anywhere but this one is actually a Target dollar section find!!
I always get two different kinds of suckers to make the arrangement look more fun and to give choice! I love watching kids rush up to the bucket and snag the one they’ve had their eyes on for weeks!
I always add more suckers than students so the kids who have birthdays at the end of the year have something to choose from. (You can decide what to do with the extras at the end of the year!) I keep it out on display all year and students get to pick a sucker on their birthday.
The finished product is soooo cute and looks like this:
They really do look forward to this special moment on their special day!! Some might even say it’s pretty sweet!
