Hello Darlings!
The end is in sight! Summer is coming!!
A time when you can and should recharge after yet another difficult year in the classroom. Since the start of the pandemic, there is no question that what we do is incredibly beautiful, yet extremely challenging so HUGE kudos to you for all that you are doing (and have done) for your students.
As the end of the year approaches, a whole lot is going on in the classroom. You are finishing up your curriculum, testing, grading, planning memorable activities, and so much more! All while managing the classroom. Ah yes, classroom management at the end of the year…every teacher’s FAVORITE! Right?! Between wrangling their attention, to solving the recess drama, to supporting kids who are afraid of the summer transition…it can get exhausting! The strategies that worked when you were all fresh and perky in September are starting to fail you now and you are moments from bribing them with donuts!
Don’t give up hope just yet!
That old bag of tricks isn’t working and it is ok. It is this time of year that shows us that we need to switch things up a bit. We need to keep them on their toes a bit!
Enter…the ABC Countdown! You will love this FREE and editable template that the kids can see each day as they enter the classroom.
You can use it as something that students have to earn each day or something that they can lose. Be sure to think about individual behavior plans you might have in your classroom that could tie into this as well! These kinds of management strategies work for your Tier 1 students and may have to be modified for your Tier 2 and 3 behavior students. Honestly, the sky is the limit! Consider this document a big juicy carrot for positive behavior and hard work as the end of the year creeps closer.
Take a look at some of our favorite activities from the countdown!
