Hello Darlings!
Well, Thanksgiving has zoomed right past us and we are now planning for December! Eeek! I am always excited and ready to celebrate the holidays with my sweet kiddos!
In order to do this, I include a list of my favorite December read-alouds for elementary students. There are SO many ways to incorporate all of your second, third, and fourth grade content into your read alouds…all the while you are having fun making holiday memories with your students!
Here is quick list of my absolute favorite December read alouds:
- The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. This particular version is read by Liam Neeson and I absolutely love it!
- Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett
- The Elves and the Shoemaker by Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm
For The Polar Express, I have a no prep Polar Express Grammar Language Bell Craft that is perfect to pair with the Polar Express read aloud!
Students will have a colorful bell to hang on the Christmas tree while review foundational ELA concepts and skills such as:
- Contractions
- Compound Words
- Nouns
- Adjectives
- Context Clues
- Cause and Effect
- And more!
Now, what are your favorite December read alouds to read to your elementary students?
December & Night Tree Eve Bunting. Christmas books but with much deeper messages.
I will have to check these out! Thank you!
